Sue Stolton is the Principal Author of Chapter 6, Benefits. She is a cofounder of Equilibrium Research and a member of the IUCN World Commission on Protected Areas and the IUCN Commission on Environmental, Economic, and Social Policy. Her current main areas of research interest include protected areas and organic agriculture. Since the mid-1990s much of her work has focused on the management effectiveness of protected areas and developing the “arguments for protection” project with WWF and partners. In March 2011 Sue received the prestigious Kenton Miller Award for ‘outstanding innovation in making sustainable the world’s national parks and protected areas’ with Nigel Dudley of IUCN’s World Commission on Protected Areas.
